CAIRO, Egypt (Reuters) – Because of concerns over 5G mobile deployment, Dubai’s Emirates airline stated on Tuesday that flights to many US locations will be suspended beginning January 19 until further notice.
The move is “due to operational concerns associated with the planned deployment of 5G mobile network services in the U.S.”, the company said. It said the destinations include Boston, Chicago, Dallas Fort Worth, Houston, Miami, Newark, Orlando, San Francisco, and Seattle.
Emirates flights to JFK, LAX, and Dulles International Airports in New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC will continue to run normally, according to the firm.
“We are working closely with aircraft manufacturers and the relevant authorities to alleviate operational concerns, and we hope to resume our US services as soon as possible,” the carrier said.
The White House stated earlier on Tuesday that it aims to reach a 5G deployment strategy that safeguards air safety while causing minimal disruption to air travel.
